Lay Director Ruth Brand (Newcastle) attended Newcastle
W8 and became a founding member of the Newcastle Servant
Community. Ruth served on several teams before
leading W24 in 1999. After serving on Secretariat as
Secretary Ruth was appointed Diocesan co-Lay Director
for 2002-2004. Ruth says "There have been many
opportunities, some significant, some not so noticeable,
to say 'Yes' to God in the context of Cursillo. The
discipline of prayer, reading, study and action are
a constant challenge to practise the presence of
God moment by moment, every day. Cursillo encourages
accountability and planning as we live out our response
to the call of Jesus to make disciples of all. Ruth sees her present role as National Lay Director
as an enormous challenge and a joyous learning curve.
